How To Travel With Glasses

It may not be in the forefront of your thoughts when planning your next big trip, but since your eyesight plays such an integral part of your life, you want to ensure your eyes are prepared for anything vacation – or a business trip – may offer. What if your glasses break? What if you lose them on the plane? Or, what would you do if you saw a huge scratch on the lens right before an important meeting with new clients? A new pair of prescription eyeglasses aren’t exactly an item you can just pick up in your local rest stop. Taking care of your glasses is actually pretty simple, and we usually always do it well; but sometimes we just don’t plan ahead well enough when it comes to traveling. So, here are a few things to keep in mind for your next trip.

The most important glasses accessory to bring with you when traveling anywhere – even on the way to work, is its protective case. Ideally you’ll want the case to have a hard cover, as this will give you a lot more insurance that your precious frames won’t be crushed. Your protective case usually even comes free of charge with purchase of a new pair of glasses, so there really shouldn’t be a reason for not keeping them together at all times! If nothing else, try keeping the glasses case in your bag or purse. This way, you’ll always have it handy whenever you should need it. Therefore, the protective case will also ensure that you won’t lose your eyeglasses because you’ll remember to always put them in the case!

Another item that typically comes with your glasses is a lens cleaning cloth. It’s always best to keep that cloth inside the case; that way all of your necessarily optical accessories stay together, and you never lose it. You should also try to opt for anti-scratch protective coatings when purchasing a new pair of specs. Anti-scratch always comes in handy, but especially on special occasions – like traveling – when your glasses are more likely to be handled and moved around a lot. You will be more likely to stay away from the deep scratches that comes from heavy wear and tear with the anti-scratch coating, and the cleaning cloth can help significantly with tough smudges. You may also want to invest in a strap for your glasses. This way you have further insurance that they wont get lost or broken if they fall off.

Your eyes could arguably be considered one of our most important senses! Therefore, especially when you’re out of your normal, comfort zone – or time zone – you want to ensure that they’ll be kept safe. Keeping your glasses frames safe plays a big role in it! If worse comes to worst and your glasses do break while you’re away from home, try ordering a new pair of eyeglasses online. You can usually get a copy of your prescription sent over from your doctor (or someone at home); and they usually come very quickly – to wherever you may need! No matter what, just remember: keep your glasses safe and have a great trip!
