Contact lenses and dry eyes are an irritating combination.
There are roughly 8-10 million people who experience dried out eyes either from a condition that causes them to suffer or they develop the syndrome as a result of their environment.
While environmental issues include things like a lot of time spent outdoors in the weather or eye strain from reading fine print or spending too much time in front of the computer the conditions of the eye that might cause someone to suffer from dry eyes includes:
•people who are born with a lesser ability to make tears
•people whose tear ducts have dried up with age
•people who have literally worn out the tiny structures that produce tears by rubbing their eyes vigorously over time
•and people who have worn contacts
Wearing contacts is actually one of the main causes of this condition and there are a few reasons for this.
Contact are made from a proportion of water and throughout the day as water evaporates the lenses try to make up for it by soaking up water from the eye…the result irritated, dried out eyes.
Another cause is that contacts block a percentage of oxygen from reaching the cornea and this hampers the ability of the eye to produce moisture giving tears. On top of that a lot of people don’t realize they need to use the right lense solution for their contacts.
All of these reasons contribute to the problem of contact lenses and dry eyes…however you need not suffer.
There are now plenty of contact lense brands designed especially to combat dry eyes including the well known brand Proclear contact lenses.
The Proclear patented technology contains molecules of a natural substance found in human cell membranes that allows lenses to hold onto moisture and bring relief from contact lenses and dry eyes and provide comfortable wear and clear vision.
Definitely welcome news for sufferers.
