Wearing Glasses And Contacts Lenses Can Destroy Your Vision
For the past few years, the wearing of contact lenses has increase. The first contact lens came into existence in 1887 and did but did not fit well and so was discarded. Another type of lens was made by Dr. Joseph Dallos in 1932 but it was too heavy to be worn comfortably.
Plastic lenses made their appearance in 1943. These lenses were made to fit the outer surface of the eye ball and in 1948 corneal lenses came out. The corneal lenses were made to fit the cornea.
Many people are wearing corneal contact lens these days including children.
There are few eye-defects which contact lenses can help to correct. These are astigmatism (irregular sight), keratoconus (cone-shaped cornea) and high anisometropia (big difference in refractory powers of the two eyes).
In trying to correct anisometrop with glasses, double vision will emerge.
Many peripheral parts of glasses can give rise to defects like spherical aberration, chromatic aberration and eye coma. But since contact lenses move with eyes it reduces the above problems.
It has not confirmed that contact lenses stop the progression of eye-defect but rather expert say that there are some dangers arising from the use of lenses.
Here are some dangers to using lenses.
1. Contact lenses are not entirely safe
2. Eyes may be contaminated with germs and micro-organisms if lenses are not well maintained.
3. Contact lens does not allow atmospheric oxygen to come in contact with cornea and so can cause corneal edema (water-logging).
4. The corneal can be injured as a result of wearing and removing eye lens.
Eye operation or surgery came in 1939. It was disastrous. But in 1969 a successful operation was done by a Russian doctor named Dr. Yanaliev. He achieve 70% success on 500 person. In 1972 another Russia doctor, Dr. Fyodorov perform 5,000 operations successfully.
What is done in operation?
Eye operation is quite simple. It consists of 8 to 16 radial incisions on the cornea and is done for those with short sight eye problems. These incisions flatten the corneal and send light rays which makes the person sees clearly. Now the incision size and position can cause complication and healing after the operation is another drawback. In conclusion, the desire to throw away glasses after operation is hardly achieved. Another problem with surgery is that of fluctuation. The vision may take months to stabilize.
If glasses and contact lens can destroy my Vision and surgery is too risky, how can l then Improve my eye sight?
The best thing to do is to explore other options. Fix your diet, use proper nutrition, follow eye exercise and stop certain foods that affect eyes.
